Arizona Women Sue Over AI Deepfakes Created From Stolen Social Media Photos
Three Arizona women have filed a lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court against an Instagram account operator and unnamed defendants for allegedly generating AI deepfake pornography using their stolen social media photos. The plaintiffs, identities protected, claim the images were monetized without consent through a subscription-based platform.
The defendants—including Beau Schultz and 50 John Does—are accused of creating blueprints to teach others how to produce AI-generated influencer content, later altered into explicit material. Nick Brand, representing the plaintiffs, describes the operation as a systematic exploitation network wider than initially suspected.
Legal teams from Donlon Group and Pere Law Group emphasize the case underscores urgent gaps in digital consent laws as AI tools proliferate. The lawsuit targets both individuals and shell companies allegedly facilitating the scheme.
